Dear prospective graduate students,
Welcome! Thank you for exploring graduate studies at the School of Architecture at Tulane University. Choosing the right graduate program takes time, and we have designed this website to help you locate the right program and to answer all your immediate questions. The links provided above will help you do this. You will find in our course offerings, various programs and faculty gallery, that we are simultaneously globally and locally focused. New Orleans offers you a unique place to study architecture, preservation and urban studies. We recommend you review our course offerings to see a sample of our current classes.
We know the application process requires research and time. We also know that a short campus visit, (always recommended), allows you to interview us. So, on February 1, 2008, we will be hosting a Graduate Open House, where we will give you a tour of our building and campus, and where you can meet our faculty and students. Please contact us so we can help you plan your visit.
As a School of Architecture that has contributed to the rebuilding a post-Katrina New Orleans, our graduate programs offer you an opportunity to be part of a historic city-building project. We are dedicated to rethinking how we build, rethinking the urban realm and rethinking our professions. Excellence and advocacy in education is a university-wide goal, and besides the School of Architecture, expect to find these same issues being explored throughout campus.
When you come to Tulane, a graduate advisor will help you choose the right courses and shape an academic path that suits your needs. We will help you build the type of professional profile you desire, and towards the end of your studies, we will walk you through the internship process. Our in-house Career Day has been highly successful in connecting our graduates to the most prestigious firms throughout the US and abroad. Coming to Tulane School of Architecture means joining a network of distinguished alumni all over the world—check out our Alumni in the “News” portion of this website. As one of the ten oldest Schools of Architecture in the nation, we offer you a solid, time-tested education in one of America’s finest historic cities. It all starts in the intimately scaled Richardson Memorial Hall, right off the famous streetcar-lined St. Charles Avenue, where access to the latest digital technologies, collaborative studio settings and state-of-the-art resources immerse you in an excellent education.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any member of our staff, should you require additional guidance through this process. Best wishes in exploring graduate studies.
