Academic Advising and Coaching

An education in the built environment is composed of unique opportunities for growth and success. The Tulane School of Architecture is committed to student success and providing students with the means to develop a personalized path towards successful completion of their academic programs.

Students at TuSA are supported by a team of advisors, coaches, and staff members along with a team of student peer leaders.

Our team works with students to identify obstacles to success in the program and facilitate  develop strategies behavioral and mindset changes to help overcome these barriers. Some of the barriers to success that our team may assist you with include, but are not limited to:

  • Time management
  • Studio/life balance
  • Interacting with faculty
  • Mid and final review preparation and stress techniques
  • Motivation & goal setting
  • Organization
  • Utilizing other Tulane campus resources and support systems

Academic Advising

Our coaches also work with students to naviagte the curriculum and policy of the school as it intersects with the broader expectations of Tulane.

Academic Advising plays an important supporting role in academic life. Academic advisors provide accurate information, referrals, and appropriate advice to help each student realize their educational goals.

The primary responsibility for knowing and meeting general and major requirements for graduation rests with the student. Please review the following list of basic student responsibilities:

-Knowing the basic requirements of your pursued curriculum and maintaining up to date information according to the Tulane School of Architecture Graduate Student Handbook.

-Scheduling appointments well ahead of registration and other peak advising times

-Observing school deadlines and due dates

-Maintaining personal records of progress within the professional curriculum, grades, correspondence to and from the School, and other academic information.

-The Tulane school of Architecture's primary means of communication is via Tulane email, it is a student's responsibility to regularly check their Tulane email account for updates.

Digital Media Tutoring

Architecture Peer Success Leaders

Architecture Peer Success Leaders (APSLs) are undergraduate students whose role is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance to their peers as they navigate the challenges associated with adjusting to and succeeding in architecture school. Current students can meet with them during their office hours, listed on the APSLs page.
