Alumni Mentorship Program

The Alumni Mentorship program is meant to provide all students, alumni of the school, and local professionals with the opportunity to connect to expand their network, discuss career goals and interests, grow professional skills, and further connect to the architecture, design, real estate, landscape architecture, historic preservation, and sustainable urbanism fields.
Started as a way to connect the Class of 2020 to the alumni base during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program has now expanded to include all classes and programs. The Mentorship Program can also offer alumni and local professionals a unique relationship to current students, while providing a convenient way to stay connected to Tulane!
Program Schedule
The Mentorship Program runs annually from October to May, beginning with a virtual kick off call and featuring quarterly engagement opportunities.
Matching Process
Students and Mentors are matched based on student program, future career goals and areas of interest, geographic locations, and other student preferences.
Time Commitment
As part of this program, we recommend communication between alumni/professional (mentor) and students (mentee) — whether via email, on the phone, or via Zoom or video conferencing —at least once a month. We also encourage in-person meetings at least once a semester at events or over school breaks. To help guide mentorship meetings, we will send a reminder email each month with suggested topics to discuss and specific resources.
Eligibility
The Mentorship Program is open to all current students and alumni of the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment from all of our programs. For the 2025-2026 program, all local professionals and friends of the school are also encourage to sign up to be mentors (regardless of where you went to school)!

Testimonials
"I absolutely recommend the Alumni Mentorship Program. Even though I’ve been in the workplace for years, I found it incredibly valuable. I was matched with an alumna from my program who works at a high level in a well-known consulting firm, and I admired both her experience and her leadership style.
Our conversations ranged from career advice to navigating uncertain job markets. She shared insights from her own experience graduating during the 2008 financial crisis, which felt especially relevant. Beyond advice, the program offered a unique chance to connect with alumni and expand my professional network.
For younger students just starting their careers, I think this program is an even greater opportunity. It’s a chance to gain guidance, build confidence, and form lasting connections in the architecture, design, preservation, real estate, and related fields." - Catherine Restrepo (MSHP '25)
"It has been rewarding participating as a mentor in the Mentorship Program over the years and seeing what my mentees end up doing post-graduation. Helping them navigate the next steps of their career, while seeing their fresh perspectives, has been an extraordinary experience in giving back to the school as well as helping shape our practice."- Josh Mings (M.Arch '12), AIA, Founder and Principal of Aggregate Studio,
