Joshua McGrew

Master of Architecture

New Orleans native Joshua McGrew graduated from St. Augustine High School in 2005, months before Hurricane Katrina made landfall and devastated the area. Watching the city rebuild after the storm inspired Joshua’s initial interest in the built environment, as he witnessed the large-scale redevelopment that took place. He is now earning his Master of Architecture at Tulane.

Joshua earned his undergraduate degree in marketing from Loyola University New Orleans. Since graduation, he has been working in construction management. With his graduate degree, he plans to expand his skillset in the built environment and establish a design-build firm. He is also interested in a career in higher education and hopes to become a Professor of Practice, as he is passionate about encouraging young people to explore the architecture field.

Joshua has been amazed by the broad topics discussed in the graduate architecture program. “We are studying architecture precedents and learning that the field is so vast and yet so constrained,” he says. He has also enjoyed collaborating with his cohort and learning from the work of his peers.
