Lecture Series: Rebecca Elliott

“Losing Ground: Values at Risk in an American Floodplain” presented by Rebecca Elliott, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Sociology, London School of Economics.

Elliott is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics. The lecture will provide an ethnographically informed account of the social life of flood insurance in the U.S., with a particular focus on emotional encounters with risk technologies like flood maps and insurance premiums. After her initial presentation, Elliott will be joined by a faculty respondent for an interdisciplinary conversation about her remarks and to answer any audience questions. The faculty respondent is: Carol McMichael Reese, Ph.D., Favrot IV Professor, Tulane School of Architecture.

This lecture will be VIRTUAL. REGISTRATION for anyone outside of the TuSA community (students, faculty, staff) is required and ends on Monday, October 18 at 11:00am. All registrants will then receive a unique link to access the webinar via their email on Monday afternoon.
