An Historic Preservation Discussion with Brian Goeken

Please join us for a discussion with Brian Goeken AICP, Chief of Technical Preservation Services for the National Park Service.

The discussion will include questions and information from our students and then Brian will speak about what his office does, what they are currently working on (policy, guidance, training, outreach, etc.), and current hot topics (sustainability, resilience, equity, affordable housing, downtown office building conversions to housing, postwar buildings, etc.). 

He will also answer any questions students may have and discuss any preservation topic they might be interested in, but particularly around economic development, preservation theory, the Historic Tax Credit program, and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.

Brian Goeken, AICP, is chief of the Technical Preservation Services (TPS) Division of the National Park Service (NPS). The NPS, in partnership with the State Historic Preservation Offices, administers the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program with the IRS.
