Irene Keil

Senior Professor of Practice -Architecture

Irene Keil is a practicing architect, working in New Orleans and Berlin. With architectural degrees from Germany and the United States, she initially worked in both countries on a range of civic and commercial projects with firms such as O. M. Ungers in Cologne, Juergen Sawade in Berlin, and Studio Works in Los Angeles.

Irene Keil has worked on projects ranging from urban design proposals and competitions to large scale building projects and small scale interiors.

In 1989 she opened her own firm in Berlin and New Orleans where she has worked since on projects ranging from urban design proposals and competitions to large scale building projects and small scale interiors.

For her work, she was awarded the German Rome Prize in 1992 and she stayed at the German Academy Villa Massimoin Rome in 1992-93. In addition to practicing, she has taught design studios at SCIARCLos Angeles and at Tulane.
