Lecture Series: Washington Fajardo
“Reshaping Rio,” presented by Washington Fajardo, Rio de Janeiro City Planning Commissioner. Sponsored by the William Kay and Nancy Proctor Turner Fund.
Virtual Lecture | Nov. 15, 5:15pm - 6:30pm CT
After hosting the 2016 Olympics Summer Games, the city of Rio de Janeiro struggled to manage COVID-19 while, at the same time, organizing the ten-year revision task for a new master plan. This lecture will open the conversation on the role of planning and design in vibrant cities like Rio. After his initial presentation, Fajardo will be joined by a faculty respondent for an interdisciplinary conversation about his remarks and to answer any audience questions. The faculty respondent is: Jesse M. Keenan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Real Estate, Tulane School of Architecture.
This lecture will be VIRTUAL. REGISTRATION for anyone outside of the TuSA community (students, faculty, staff) is required and ends on Monday, November 15 at 11:00am. All registrants will then receive a unique link to access the webinar via their email on Monday afternoon. If you are a TuSA community member, you will receive the link and password for the Zoom meeting in your email.
