Lecture Series: Germane Barnes

This lecture will explore the domestic realm through the front porch. Featuring projects in Miami, FL, the location of Studio Barnes, this lecture highlights themes such as celebration, ritual, family, and love through Black spatial occupation of the front porch. Tangent to the lecture is a film, You Can Always Come Home that furthers the investigation and liberation Blackness in the architected environment. After his initial presentation, Barnes will be joined by a faculty respondent for an interdisciplinary conversation about his remarks and to answer any audience questions. The faculty respondent is: Omar Ali, Architecture and Urbanism Fellow, Tulane School of Architecture.
The lecture will take place in Kendall Cram Lecture Hall in Tulane University's Lavin-Bernick Center. This lecture is open to the public through registration below. This event will follow all Tulane and CDC COVID-19 restrictions.
