Smith Marks

Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture

Smith Marks is a recent transplant to New Orleans, moving from North Carolina, where he was born and raised. He completed his undergraduate education at UNC Chapel Hill in Economics, then attended NC State University where he received his Master of Architecture. Smith Marks is an architect at Perkins&Will and works remotely for the Durham, NC studio.

Smith leads the architecture Research Studio "Culture, Craft, Commemoration"

His work has focused on the healthcare and cultural sectors, with an approach to design rooted in his concern for the way things fit together - conceptually, technically, and functionally.

From storytelling and place-making to computational design and digital fabrication, he has broad interests and influences on the way he thinks about the built environment.

In his leisure time, he enjoys exploring the city with his wife and their two dogs, playing chess, listening to live music, and trying to figure out how to break 100 on the golf course.
