Sean Fowler

Visiting Research Assistant Professor

Sean Fowler is an architectural designer, urbanist and Visiting Research Assistant Professor. His work focuses on urban water issues, public space and reimagining infrastructure for human flourishing in the face of climate change.

Sean has designed projects addressing human habitation and urban water management on three continents, including international recognition for a competition entry addressing these challenges in Nigeria, and similar projects in India and New Orleans. This work has also been recognized with a CRIT Scholar research fellowship.

Sean previously worked with square feet studio in Atlanta, leading and contributing to adaptive reuse projects across the southeast. This work addressed scales from master planning for post-industrial and former military sites larger than 100-acres to boutique office, hospitality and retail spaces in former warehouses. This work also included custom residential design, food and beverage design and interior design.

Sean has also served as a community advocate for safer streets and transportation alternatives, representing communities along high-injury road networks while lobbying local and state governments with Propel ATL (formerly the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition). His broader community engagement extended to leading programs introducing middle- and high-school students to architecture and design. This advocacy led to recognition with the AIA Georgia Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program and a term on the AIA Atlanta Board of Directors.

Sean Fowler received a Masters of Architecture from Tulane University, a Masters of Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University and a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
