MC Matucheski

Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture

MC Matucheski is an architectural designer and educator from Indianapolis, Indiana. A lifelong passion for hands-on making, from furniture to fine art, led her to architecture and design. Her career has spanned several industries and locales. She believes that the capacity of architects, and an architectural education, extends far beyond traditional practice.

MC has practiced architecture across five states primarily in the commercial sector with projects including a children’s museum, pediatrics clinic, and orangutan habitat to name a few. In the process she learned the profound impact that buildings have on cities and on each individual user.

Most recently MC worked in the New Orleans film industry as a set designer. Using the same principles cultivated in school and in professional practice, she learned to use environments to tell stories, time travel, and evoke emotion. MC is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Union (IATSE).

A LEED Accredited Professional since 2011, MC is passionate about all three tenets of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic. Working as an inner-office consultant, she helped many projects achieve LEED certification. She also researched material ingredients and manufacturing facilities for the first Living Building Challenge project in Texas.

An architectural education can take you many places. She has also worked as a fabricator, carpenter, CNC machinist, and fabrication coordinator at a puppetry film studio.
