Luz Briceño

Visiting Assistant Professor of Design

Luz Briceño is a Chilean Fashion and Textile Designer with work experience in Chile and Spain. In 2006 in Barcelona she created a fashion brand called La Joya Design, managing to position the brand in luxury market, with participation in international catwalks like Shanghai Fashion Week and exhibitions like the Triennale di Milano, having publications in international media. In 2013 she founded and was the first president of the Association of Fashion Designers of Chile (Moda Chile). In 2016 she created the textile innovation company called The Copper Company where she is the CEO with the vision to transform her experience in design fashion to science fashion with the idea to make research and develop R&D for the textile world focused on people's health. During the pandemic, she developed antimicrobial copper technology for masks, achieving exports to more than 18 countries. In 2022 she managed to be awarded an invention patent for creating a biocidal textile material with copper and vitamin D and she was finalist of the Avonni National Innovation Award in the category Health and Science – Roche in Chile, for an innovation improvement in Children against epidermolysis bullosa. At this time she is part of the jury of the ADC 102nd Annual Awards in New York City, in the categories of Fashion and Textile design.
