Jacob Alter

Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture

Jacob Alter is a practicing mechanical engineer based in New Orleans, originally hailing from central Connecticut. With almost 20 years of design and construction experience, Jacob has worked in numerous markets and geographical areas, giving him a unique perspective on the built environment. Jacob is currently a Vice President of Engineering Design at Bernhard, previously supervising the mechanical construction division’s Engineering Design and Pre-commissioning teams.

It is this experience that has informed his desire to combine the client’s vision with energy efficient designs to create custom, buildable engineering solutions. 

A graduate of Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Jacob holds an OSHA 10 certification and is a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional. When not working, he participates in the larger design community as a past-president of the New Orleans chapter of ASHRAE and a current board member of ACE Mentors of Greater New Orleans.
