Bruno Soria

Adjunct Lecturer in Design

Bruno Soria is an architectural and furniture designer, as well as a builder, educator, and musician. His extensive experience as a woodworker and carpenter, as well as his previous work in the social sciences, both inform his nuanced and practical approach to design. In his small, independent practice, he strives to develop an architecture of empathy—empathy both with the natural environment and the existing built environment, highlighting the importance of context over personal agendas or aesthetics dogmas. Bruno Soria joined the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment Faculty in Spring 2023, took a break for a couple of years, and rejoined in
Spring 2026.

Bruno also works as Site Manager for Stoneroot Retreat in northern Georgia, an institution offering retreats and residencies for organizations and individuals working in the arts and in social justice. In his role as Site Manager, he is responsible for the development of a multi-year, facility-wide plan for the 20-acre property, which includes the design and development of several new structures, including cabins, artist studios, a bunkhouse, outdoor bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen, walking trails, etc.

In his spare time, Bruno plays the tuba for Wit’s End Brass Band, a mainstay of the downtown New Orleans community, as well as plays and writes music for an underground carnival
krewe.
