Beaux Jones

Adjunct Lecturer - Real Estate Development

Beaux Jones is the President and CEO for The Water Institute, where he blends his expertise in law, policy, and science to lead the Institute’s mission-driven transdisciplinary teams tackling some of the most pressing water-related challenges facing communities today. In his role at the Water Institute, Beaux works with a team of scientists, engineers, lawyers, planners and other professionals to deliver the best available science and decision-making support, empowering stakeholders to analyze, manage, and mitigate risks effectively.

Prior to joining the Institute, Beaux served as the environmental section chief for the Louisiana Department of Justice, where he represented the State of Louisiana and its agencies in a wide variety of matters ranging from environmental and coastal law to criminal and appellate law. He most recently worked as an environmental and coastal lawyer for the law firm Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer in New Orleans.
Beaux has represented agencies, companies, and organizations arguing cases at every level of state and federal court in Louisiana and has worked on several high-profile cases related to the Gulf Coast and Louisiana. He was also on the BP spill team with the Louisiana Attorney General. Beaux earned his bachelor’s from Davidson College and his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Beaux is passionate about his home. As a frequent guest lecturer and speaker, he champions a new narrative around Louisiana—how the region’s water and climate challenges have positioned Louisiana and the Gulf Coast as a global leader in resilience and innovation.
