Allison Cruz

Assistant Dean for Academics

Allison Cruz serves as the Assistant Dean of Academics at the Tulane University School of Architecture, responsible for academic policies and student success initiatives in five undergraduate and graduate architecture, design, real estate development academic programs. Allison Cruz has her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University, a B.A. in sociology from Loyola University New Orleans and is working towards her PhD in sociology in the City, Culture, and Community program at Tulane. Allison’s research interests focus on the sociology of higher education and how cultural-organizational structures influence student affairs staff members to make meaning of institutional culture. Allison is especially interested in how mid-level student affairs practitioners act as brokers of institutional culture through the creation of university policies and cultural artifacts experienced by students. In addition to her PhD research, Allison is a member of a scholar-practitioner research group that researches and writes about the role and identity of motherhood in student affairs scholar-practitioner research, methods for scholar-practitioner research, and the history of the profession of student affairs.
