Pia Mendaro

Visiting Assistant Professor

Pía Mendaro (Madrid, 1991) graduated as an architect at Superior Technical School of Architecture Madrid (Bacherlor+Master), ETSAM (2009-2016). She has worked freelance since then. She’s impatient with architecture’s timing, hence designing (and self-producing) furniture and studying botany and gardening in the meantime.

Pia's work revolves around the experimental search for exciting spaces.

For the last four years, she has completed various refurbishments in Madrid for her own practice, designed the furniture for a children's library in Monterrey (Mexico), participated as a professor assistant in Studio class (Polytechnic School Madrid), and led the direction (and management) of Barbecho space, focused on useful design (2017-19). At present, Pia has a PhD thesis in progress (Polytechnic School Madrid).

Her work has been published online and printed in architecture and design magazines worldwide: Arquitectura Viva, ArchDaily, ArchDaily China, ADspain, ADgermany, Designboom, Metalocus, Tectonica, Diseño Interior, Interni Magazine Korea, BOB Magazine, Neo2Magazeen…
