Alumni Spotlight: Simcha Ward

Alumnus Simcha Ward, AIA, Director of Development at Crescent Communities. Simcha is currently overseeing over $250MM of development activity including the development of multifamily communities in North Carolina and Tennessee from concept to disposition. Simcha attended Tulane University where he received both a Bachelor and Master of Architecture in 2011 and has the honor of serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council.

At Crescent Communities, Simcha is currently overseeing the award winning NOVEL University Place, NOVEL Ballantyne, and upcoming Carson & Tryon mixed-use developments. Prior to joining Crescent Communities, Simcha was a Senior Development Manager with Laurel Street Residential where he secured over $100MM in public financing commitments that contributed to the development of over 500 units of affordable housing in North Carolina and Georgia using a combination of local, state, and federal incentive programs. Simcha built his public finance expertise at Wisznia | Architecture + Development in New Orleans where he served as a Development Project Manager and Project Architect and contributed to complex mixed-use developments such as The Garage and The Pizitz. He started his career in the Washington, DC, office of CallisonRTKL as a Senior Designer focused on retail anchored mixed-use developments in Dubai, China, and Connecticut.

Simcha attended Tulane University where he received both a Bachelor and Master of Architecture in 2011 and has the honor of serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council. Simcha is a licensed architect in the District of Columbia and is a member of Urban Land Institute & American Institute of Architects. He also serves on the board of Directors of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association and the Hebrew Cemetery Association of Charlotte.

Simcha met his wife Alexandra while they both studied at Tulane. They reside in Charlotte with two young children.
