This foundational studio is part of the 3.5-year professional Master of Architecture sequence. This initial semester introduced strategies, techniques, and vocabulary for the production of architecture. The course was broken into 4 Units: Unit 01-Logic of Form, explored the geometry of minerals to build skills with rules related to form, geometric projection, and 3D digital modeling; Unit 02-Precedent Analysis, addressed basic concepts of architecture by careful drawing and analysis of a curated selection of small scale architectural projects; Unit 03-Designing the Microhome, developed a 300 square foot residence for two people in a residential neighborhood in Portland, Oregon; Unit 04-Representation, cultivated sensibility by attending to the aesthetics of visual communication and image production.
