Miwako Hattori

Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture

Miwako, AIA, LEED AP, is a Principal of Studio Kiro, an architectural and design firm based in New Orleans. 

Miwako is a design and detail-oriented licensed Architect with over 20 years of experience across a broad range of project types and scales throughout the United States, Germany and Japan.

She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and has spent over 20 years in New Orleans. Before she fell in love with New Orleans, she spent her architectural education and early career in Tokyo, Japan, Raleigh, NC, Charleston, SC, Prague, Czech Republic and Berlin, Germany.  
 
She has worked at one of New Orleans’ leading architectural firms for the past 10 years as Studio Director and Principal. She has extensive project experience at a variety of scales, ranging in cost from $100,000 to $80 million, with the market varying from residential, hospitality, civic, transportation and higher education.  
 
She graduated from Japan Women’s University of Housing Design and her philosophy of how space should be informed by the clients’ life approach is rooted in her study during that time. She received her Master of Architecture degree from North Carolina State University.
