The highly anticipated dramedy Lost & Found in Cleveland, directed, written, and produced by Keith Gerchak (M.Arch '93) and Marisa Guterman, is set to make its World Premiere as a Centerpiece Film at the Newport Beach Film Festival on October 19. The film features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Martin Sheen, Dennis Haysbert, and June Squibb, offering a heartfelt and engaging story that blends drama and comedy. Following the festival, the film is expected to have a theatrical release, drawing attention for its powerful performances and intriguing narrative.
In addition to his work in film, Keith Gerchak is known for his contributions to the field of architecture. As a principal at LA-based TheatreDNA, an architectural consultancy specializing in theater design, he has worked on performing arts projects around the globe. His collaborations include work with prestigious architectural firms such as Gehry Partners and SANAA, showcasing his expertise in creating spaces that enhance the performance experience. His dual career in both architecture and film exemplifies his ability to merge creativity and design across different mediums.
Gerchak's role as co-founder of Double G Films also highlights his commitment to producing content that bridges artistic forms. Lost & Found in Cleveland marks an important milestone for both Gerchak and Guterman as filmmakers, underscoring the importance of storytelling that touches on universal themes. With his deep background in both film and architecture, Gerchak brings a unique perspective to his projects, promising audiences a visually and emotionally compelling experience on screen.
This modern American fable is set in the post-industrial Midwest, capturing a snapshot of life over a single 24-hour period. The film follows the intersecting personal journeys of five distinct characters, whose paths cross when a popular televised antiques appraisal show arrives in their town. As they navigate this seemingly ordinary day, the film delves into the shifting nature of the American Dream.
Reflecting on the journey of creating Lost & Found in Cleveland, Gerchak shares, “From the performances of our iconic ensemble cast to the cinematography and score, we think this film will catch audiences by surprise and have them laughing and crying at the same time. It's been an incredible road to creating Lost & Found, and we're thrilled that journey has led to our World Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival. We set out to tell a fable about the American Dream and came to realize our own in the process.”
