Danica Adams

Adjunct Lecturer - Real Estate Development

Danica is a climate adaptation planner with a practioner’s background in urban stormwater planning and regional flood mitigation. In addition to being an adjunct teacher at the Tulane School of Architecture and the Built Environment, she is an Associate at Feese and Nichols in the role of Strategic Initiative Lead for Disaster Resilience.

She grew up in St. Gabriel, the rural area between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, on acres of land near the Mississippi River, down the road from Alligator Bayou, and across the street from Bayou Paul. In her thesis research at UT Austin, and in her work, she has seen that people’s relationship to facts, or, our perception of what is real and relevant, is affected by our social context – where we grew up, who our family is, how we weathered a storm, and what our community has to say about it all. These perceptions of risk and resilience shape our actions. For this reason, Danica’s teaching and her practice focuses on action. She considers how people make decisions, why people take (or don’t take) action, and (importantly) how to change those actions.
