Alex Barthel
Adjunct Lecturer in Historic Preservation
Alex Barthel is a licensed Architect and Preservationist, interested in exploring the cross section between historic and contemporary homes in the Gulf South. His practice centers on renovation, restoration, addition, and adaptive reuse of single and multi-family dwellings in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Wisconsin. Previously, as an integral member of the Adamick Architecture team, he went on to win the 2020 AIA New Orleans Honor Award and was a feature in Dwell Magazine. Alex believes in designing residences that do not simply replicate or reconstruct the past, but rather respect the historicity by modernizing style and detailing to conform with contemporary building methods. Alex holds a Masters of Architecture and a Masters of Preservation Studies degree from Tulane University's School of Architecture. Alex received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, in 2013.
