Xixi Chen
Architecture and Asian Studies Fellow
Xixi Chen (she/they) is an architect, educator, and researcher born in Shanghai
and raised outside of Chicago. She is the Architecture and Asian Studies Fellow at Tulane University.
XXS–Xixi Studio, Xixi’s creative practice, bridges architecture, design, and art practices to examine diaspora and memory across scales. Recent projects include a feature in MIT Thresholds 54, a collaboration with Red Canary Song for MoMA PS1’s Greater New York 2026, and an upcoming piece for ETH trans magazine. Her work is in the collection of Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong and Brooklyn.
Xixi holds an M. Arch from Columbia University and a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a licensed architect in the state of California and has practiced with design studios in the U.S. and EU, including Michael Maltzan Architecture in Los Angeles and 2x4 in New York. Previously, Xixi taught at Syracuse University, Columbia University, and Barnard College.
