John Dwyer

Visiting Assistant Professor

John Dwyer is an architect and educator whose work explores how design can address complex social, environmental, and urban challenges.

Throughout his career, Dwyer has combined professional practice, academic leadership, and public engagement to advance architecture as a catalyst for positive change. His work has received national recognition, including an ACSA/AIA Housing Design Education Award, and he has served in leadership roles with the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). 

As founder of John Dwyer Architecture, Dwyer's work spans housing, adaptive reuse, urban design, and community-based design. His projects have been recognized with numerous honors including a national AIA Young Architects Award, the AIA Minnesota Louis Lundgren Award for Service, and recognition as Artist of the Year by City Pages. Through both practice and scholarship, his work explores how architecture can expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and create lasting public value.
