Tulane Home

All classes are suspended for the week of March 16. Starting the week of March 23, all classes will resume entirely online. Tulane School of Architecture (TuSA) remains open with most faculty and staff working remotely. Students can be granted access to work in the building only with prior approval from the school. At this time, we are not hosting admissions tours.

Please continue to check your Tulane email, Canvas, the TuSA COVID-19 FAQ, and the Tulane Emergency Management page for updates.

Tulane is working with students who have difficult personal circumstances that would make leaving campus a challenge or will face complications in online learning once they return home. In response, we have set up the Tulane Student Emergency Aid and Assistance Fund to address current student needs.

Toni DiMaggio is an architect and preservationist who embraces the dialogue between historic and modern architecture. She believes preservation is an ideology that requires theoretical discussion simultaneously of the past and the present, and that the goal of a preservationist is to “inform progress,” rather than place a moratorium on new, innovative design. Her architectural design focus includes the adaptive reuse, expansion, and rehabilitation of historic buildings, as well as the analysis of new construction within a historic context. Her 15-year professional career in New Orleans also includes specialization in materials conservation, historic tax credit applications, and research.

Toni holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Tulane University [‘03] and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia University [‘07], where she received the Robert C. Weinberg Award for Excellence in Preservation Planning and Design for her graduate thesis, Preserving Urban Housing in Post-Katrina New Orleans. Upon returning home to New Orleans, she helped form the Louisiana Chapter of DOCOMOMO US as founding president.

Toni recently joined actLAB- a collaborative studio working at the intersection of design, research, and social advocacy.
