All classes are suspended for the week of March 16. Starting the week of March 23, all classes will resume entirely online. Tulane School of Architecture (TuSA) remains open with most faculty and staff working remotely. Students can be granted access to work in the building only with prior approval from the school. At this time, we are not hosting admissions tours.

Tulane is working with students who have difficult personal circumstances that would make leaving campus a challenge or will face complications in online learning once they return home. In response, we have set up the Tulane Student Emergency Aid and Assistance Fund to address current student needs.

Claiborne Tanner


Mr. Tanner is an attorney with the Tanner Law Firm, LLC, where he concentrates in the areas of real estate, construction, affordable housing, and tax incentives.  He has represented developers and investors in a wide variety of projects including hotels, apartment complexes, office buildings, residential condominiums, and retail commercial space.  He routinely provides advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development and investing, including land acquisition and due diligence; land use and zoning issues; title issues; construction contracting; financing (senior and mezzanine debt financing); condominium filings; loan workouts; and tenant leasing and other landlord-related matters. He is experienced in structuring commercial real estate transactions and in the negotiation and preparation of various real estate related agreements, such as purchase agreements; development agreements; loan documentation; construction contracts; and commercial and residential leases.

Mr. Tanner also provides counsel in connection with the use of federal and state tax incentives, both locally and throughout the U.S., including low-income housing tax credits and historic rehabilitation tax credits, as well as various financing programs administered and insured by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He has provided representation before local planning and zoning commissions and city councils throughout the States of Louisiana and Florida regarding zoning changes, permitting, variances, subdivision issues, and other land use matters.  

Prior to moving back to Louisiana in 2009, Mr. Tanner served as general counsel and associate general counsel for several national and international developers in the South Florida area, including the largest privately-held condominium converter, and a high-rise condominium developer specializing in the Miami and Las Vegas markets.  During this time Mr. Tanner served as lead counsel for several high-profile condominium projects, including the largest condominium construction loan ever closed in the South Florida area.  In recognition of his achievements, in 2007 Mr. Tanner was named one of the “Top Dealmakers of South Florida” by the Daily Business Review.  Mr. Tanner is rated an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell.
