The Sustainable Urbanism Minor enables undergraduate students to expand their knowledge of urbanism and urbanization, building on foundational principles to explore the complexities of contemporary cities.

Students pursuing majors in other disciplines can complement their studies with the Sustainable Urbanism Minor, gaining insights into the complex interactions between urban environments, human well-being, and ecological systems. The minor’s flexible structure allows students to explore individual interests while developing a foundational understanding of urbanization processes, planning strategies, and the challenges of sustainable development. Through interdisciplinary coursework, students engage with issues such as climate resilience, social equity, and urban policy, equipping them with analytical tools applicable across diverse fields.

A minor in Sustainable Urbanism consists of five core courses, two elective courses from designated offerings within the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment and a minimum of 21 credits.

To minor in Sustainable Urbanism, students should meet with Andrew Lorelli, Academic Advisor, to establish a curriculum.
