The Bachelor of Arts in Design (BADes) introduces students to design as a language, to exploration via design thinking, and to a solutions-based design methodology to address the most urgent challenges of our time.
Visual communication and creative problem-solving have become increasingly important. The BADes degree is intended to provide students with an interdisciplinary approach to design thinking through technical design training. Students will learn to apply design thinking to different fields such as business, social sciences, and engineering. It serves as an entry point to various career paths such as graphic design, architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, program design, and product design.
The degree is structured to be coupled with either a second major or the selection of 1 of 3 concentrations: Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, Preservation Studies, or Sustainable Real Estate and Development.
The new major is coming Fall 2020. Some courses that count toward the major can be taken ahead of this date. Current students can contact their advisor in the Academic Advising Center with questions.
