Ronald C. Filson, FAIA, has practiced architecture both in the United States and abroad. He received his architectural degree from Yale University and was awarded the Rome Prize by the American Academy in Rome. He served as Dean of the School of Architecture from 1980 until 1992 and served as Acting Dean for the 2003-2004 year.

Ron is also active in local professional and civic organizations. He has been a Director and President of the Arts Council of New Orleans as well as having served as a member of the New Orleans City Planning Commission for two years and as a member of the Old Metairie Commission for four. He was President of the American Institute of Architects, New Orleans Chapter in 1995, and served as President of AIA Louisiana in 1998.

Ron is the recipient of numerous design awards including A Federal Design Achievement Award, three Progressive Architecture Citations, and more than fifteen AIA Design Awards at local, state, and regional levels. He is the author of numerous articles in professional journals and four chapters in books, and is actively engaged in exploring new relationships between architectural education and professional practice. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, The American Academy in Rome, and the Institute for Urban Design. Teaching responsibilities include design studios and courses related to professional issues.
