Nick Jenisch is a design associate and project director for the Tulane Regional Urban Design Center, and has been engaged in public sector urban design for several years. His recent work encompasses both local community planning and international regional planning and urban design. Disaster recovery work includes a post-Katrina plan for St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, focusing on specific projects to be made available for immediate federal funding, and recipient of an AIA New Orleans Honor Award. International projects include work across eastern China, ranging from the first national-level scenic highway and lakefront development (Changxing) to regional strategic plans developed for cities larger than Rhode Island (Nantong, Zhenjiang, & Yancheng).
Nick sits on the architectural design review board in Slidell, LA, and has organized and hosted two sessions of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, a forum of the National Endowment for the Arts. As grant writer for the TRUDC, he has helped Tulane and client cities secure more than $750,000 in funding over the past 2 years, and has gained Preserve America designations for the cities of Slidell & Mandeville, LA, Natchez, MS, and the Village of East Hampton, NY, allowing them to preserve and market their historic architectural amenities.
