Emma Storm Herr joins the Tulane School of Architecture as the new Senior Development Officer overseeing development efforts for architecture, preservation, real estate development, and social innovation/social entrepreneurship initiatives. She has been with Tulane since 2012 as a development officer with the Undergraduate Reunion Giving program. Previously, she served as Director of Development for the local non-profit evacuteer.org.
Throughout her career Herr has pursued a public service track, starting as an Americorps VISTA through a partnership between Tulane’s Center for Public Service and evacuteer.org. She continued on with evacuteer.org as its first full-time staff member and, under her leadership, helped grow the organization from a loosely organized group of passionate volunteers to a nationally recognized and sustainably financed non-profit. In addition to growing the operational budget, Herr secured funding for a permanent public art installation in partnership with the Arts Council of New Orleans consisting of 17 large-scale sculptures across the greater New Orleans area that function as emergency pick-up points in the event of a city-wide evacuation.
At Tulane’s Office of Development, she was a founding member of the newly re-envisioned reunion giving program focused on strategically engaging alumni to increase overall university fundraising efforts. Her position has since grown to include overseeing young alumni reunion campaigns and student philanthropy, in addition to reunion giving.
Herr is devoted to philanthropy throughout the New Orleans community. She is a board member of the Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans, a group that aims to educate and empower young leaders to become effective, lifelong philanthropists. She also serves on the board of Community Works of Louisiana.
Herr received a bachelor’s degree from Tulane and is currently pursuing her MBA. She looks forward to joining the Tulane School of Architecture at an exciting time of growth and expanding the scope of its fundraising to a global level.
