Anna Monhartova, Ph.D. has been part of the Tulane faculty teaching international development classes and service learning for 7 years. Her diverse experience includes community engagement, social entrepreneurship, and non-profit leadership and management.

Monhartova has combined education and practice throughout her career, teaching at Tulane University in the Payson Center for International Development while being actively engaged in community service via a youth development organization. Her background uniquely positions her to work with students on their projects and guide them throughout this program.

Monhartova has received numerous awards for her community work, including a City Council Proclamation, the New Orleans Saints Community Quarterback Award, the St. Elizabeth Guild Volunteer Activist Award, Gambit’s 40 Under 40 Award, a City Business Women of the Year Honoree, the Angel Award for volunteer service from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Louisiana, and the Tulane T. Sykes Award for the Talented, among others.

In accepting the position of Program Director for the SISE program, Monhartova said she is honored to be part of a nationally recognized program and believes that “studying social entrepreneurship can help Tulane students develop skills needed to address our most pressing societal challenges.”

Monhartova received her PhD from Tulane University in International Development.
