News Alumnus Maziar Behrooz receives AIA awards
Maziar Behrooz (TSA ‘85) and his firm MB Architecture PC in East Hampton, New York are the recipients of two AIA Peconic Chapter Honor Awards in the ‘architecture’ and ‘project’ categories - the highest awards in their respective categories.
They were given to the ‘Container Art Studio’ and the ‘Hangar House’. The former is an 840 sf art studio that was built with two 40’ shipping containers perched on a concrete foundation. The latter is a private residence that uses airplane hangar technology/materials and structural insulated panels in place of wood framing. Both projects explore alternative materials and methods of construction to achieve more sustainable and efficient building solutions.
