Nov 4, 2016

MSRED Adjunct Lecturer, Kelly Longwell, was recently honored by New Orleans CityBusiness as one of fourteen area "Money Makers" in the investment industry for financial achievements and community impact. These honorees were recognized at a luncheon event on October 27 and highlighted individually in the paper's October 28 issue.

Professor Longwell is managing partner of Coats Rose, a New Orleans law firm specializing in construction and surety law, affordable housing, real estate, public finance, insurance and litigation. The CityBusiness article notes that "her specialty is structuring transactions, using tax credits or a deduction, to generate equity into real estate deals within IRS guidelines. The bulk of her clients are real estate developers and nonprofits. Deals range from $4 million up to $120 million."

Professor Longwell has taught in Tulane's MSRED program since 2011 and currently co-teaches the SRED elective "Community Development Finance" in the Spring semester. She is also Chair of the American Bar Association's Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law and sits on the board of the YMCA of Greater New Orleans.
