Callison’s Salt Lake City project, City Creek Center, was honored with a Gold Design Award and a Gold Sustainable Design Award this month at the U.S. Design and Development Shopping Center Awards ceremony sponsored by the International Council Shopping Centers (ICSC).

City Creek is the retail centerpiece of one of the nation’s largest mixed-use downtown redevelopment projects. It includes a two-story 760,000 sq ft retail center; 500 residential rental units; and four levels of underground parking. The center’s unique shopping and leisure environment features a 30,000 sq ft retractable roof, a creek that runs through the property, and a pedestrian sky bridge.

As the design architect, Callison was responsible for master planning the 20-acre property, as well as the commercial retail architectural design of the entire downtown center.

Having won the U.S. ICSC designer award, the project will automatically be entered for next year’s ICSC’s Global Design and Development Awards competition.
