Eskew+Dumez+Ripple wins 2013 AIA Award for Interior Architecture
Eskew+Dumez+Ripple Wins 2013 National American Institute of Architects Honor Award for Interior Architecture for Lamar Advertising Corporate Headquarters
The American Institute of Architects has named its 2013 Institute Honor Awards recipients, selecting 28 projects from more than 700 submissions. Nine of the awards recognized interiors projects, one of which went to Eskew+Dumez+Ripple for their design of the Lamar Advertising corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This adaptive reuse of a 1970’s-era data center transforms what many would consider a “throw-away” building into an exciting new corporate headquarters. The design radically alters the original structure to create dynamic spaces filled with daylight and energy. Portions of the structure are removed to connect the various floors into one communicating whole, promoting interaction amongst staff while further reinforcing the culture and identity of the company as a single creative community. Maintaining the majority of the existing shell and structure of the building eliminated tons of waste from local landfills, while the introduction of daylighting, occupant-controlled lighting and HVAC systems, and use of high-performance windows significantly increases building performance.
