Alpha Rho Chi and One to One Architecture and Consulting are hosting Hart Marlow of SU11 for weekend design workshop.
The workshop phase of the event will be held on Saturday, February 20th. This event requires advanced registration. If you wish to register, please find an Alpha Rho Chi representative in the lobby this Friday (2/12). The lecture on Friday February 19th and pin up on Sunday February 21st are open to whoever wishes to attend.
The drawing workshop will focus on digital modeling and using digital tools to dynamically control surface planes. The end result will be the creation of laser cut bas-relief model. Laser cutting material will be provided and the cost of material and laser cutting is included in the registration fee of the workshop.
The workshop will function as follows:
Session A – 9:00-1:00pm
Lunch – 1:00pm-2:00pm
Session B – 2:00pm-5:00pm
Laser Cutting – 5:00pm
The workshop will function as a step by step exercise through the use of various software platforms such as Rhino, Grasshopper, and Kangaroo. The workshop will cover introductory guidance on Grasshopper and Kangaroo and any other software platforms that will be used throughout the duration of the workshop.
Required software knowledge
-Rhino 5.0 – Skill Level : medium
-Adobe Suite – Skill Level : medium
-Auto-CAD – Skill Level : low
Software that will be used but require no previous knowledge
Space in the workshop is limited. We will be conducting sign ups in the Architecture School Lobby at 12pm before studio on Friday. After this time, you will be able to sign up by contacting Kyle Graham at firstname.lastname@example.org if space allows. In order to cover material costs and the time of the architect, a $20 fee will be charged to all participants. We will have a card reader with us on Friday.
