Technology & Architectural History Tenure Track Faculty Candidate Lectures
In 2004, Guzman de Yarza co-founded J1 Architects, a Madrid-based office that currently undertakes projects in Spain. Prior to this, he worked for the well known Madrid firm, Andres Perea Architecture. Built works have been recognized nationally and internationally, receiving awards such as the 2014 Architizer A+ Award for the Best Sport and Recreation Building for their elevated sport court for an elementary school in Zaragoza, Spain. His works have also been extensively published in magazines such as Arquitectura Viva, Dezeen and the Phaidon Atlas of World Architecture, among others.
In addition to architecture, de Yarza has also been recognized as a visual artist, specializing in documentary film making. His films have been exhibited at the Reina Sofia National Museum (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia), the Contemporary Art Museum of Vigo (MARCO), the Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris, the Centro de Arte Recoleta de Buenos Aires, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow, the International Triennale of Prague among others.
