Alpha Rho Chi and One to One Architecture and Consulting is pleased to present The Digital Design Workshop featuring Mike Nesbit.
Mike Nesbit, a native of Los Angeles, is currently a project Designer for the award winning architecture firm, Morphosis. Along with his current discipline, Mike is exploring areas between art and architecture, with an interest in literal misrepresentation. These particular interests have worked their way into gallery exhibits in Los Angeles to previous academic workshops at Tulane. Previous to his current work, Mike played four years of professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners and also received a Bachelors of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
The workshop will kickoff on Friday March 6th with a lecture by Mike Nesbit describing his current work. This event is open to the entire school. A sample of that work is available here: https://www.jainjai.com/towards-phlatness-by-michael-nesbit/ or at @mike.nesbit on Instagram.
The following morning (March 7th), Mike will lead an intensive design workshop on modes of digital representation and alternative design methodologies. During this time, participants will get one on one attention with a cutting edge designer while using a myriad of software tools to create a digital artifact.
Sunday morning (March 8th), all completed artifacts will be pinned up and discussed as a group with Mike Nesbit and our own Charles Jones. A selection of the participants will be specially selected by Charles and Mike for framing and additional presentation. This pinup is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
Space in the workshop is limited. Sign up times will be announced shortly.
A $30 participation fee will be charged for all participants. This fee is all inclusive and accounts for the printing and display of the image generated during the workshop, refreshments throughout the day, and the time of the visiting professional.
