Career Explorations in Architecture

Summer High School Program

Information Session

Architecture is a discipline and a career that requires professional training. High school students considering career options may have had little opportunity to become acquainted with the unique blend of visual orientation, creative process, academic investigation and professional training that forms an architectural education. Career Explorations in Architecture is designed to offer students a short, intensive introduction to architecture to help them make informed decisions about their direction in post-secondary education and beyond. Students will spend their three weeks in the School of Architecture exploring the ideas, methods, and issues of architecture. Lectures, field trips, discussions, critiques, and other activities during the four-hour daily class session will be supplemented by regular design exercises to be completed outside class time. Students will sample the intensity as well as the subjects of a collegiate architecture curriculum.
