Courses
A limited number of courses are open only to architecture students; yet most other architecture courses, many of which fulfill undergraduate core curriculum requirements in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and physical sciences, may be taken by students in other Tulane divisions.
Areas of instruction that include required courses list required courses before electives.
Generally, in the University, courses numbered 100-199 are primarily for first year students;200-299, second year students, and so on. 600 level courses are advanced study courses yet can be either undergraduate or graduate level. 700 level courses are for graduate students only.
Not all elective courses listed in this catalog are offered every semester. The amount of credit awarded for successful completion of each course is indicated in parentheses after the course title. An “R” or “E” in brackets after the credits, designates whether a course is required or elective [R: Required; E: Elective]. Courses with [R, E] designations are those which fulfill a course requirement for the architectural major yet can also be taken as an open architectural elective.
